Urizi Playing Cards | Vol 1, 2020

Urizi playing cards is historically inspired Limited Edition designed and illustrated by Keddi B Graham. It was created around the way of life of early indigenous pastoral nomads that roamed and inhabited vast eastern arid and semi-arid landscapes, the central theme being; similar to these tribes, the approach of life in accord with the flow of nature to become who you were purposed to be.

The deck is adorned with custom hand-drawn court cards. These are 3 repeatable figures styled with tribal accessories and covered in motifs that evoke their ancient setting. The court figures, going by titles of Wrot (the King), Awak (the Queen) and Koun (as Jack) are fictional allusion to the foundational people of the clans. It doesn’t stop there. In addition, the cards feature a borderless design on the backside (striking thorn-like elements akin to the shape of their homesteads), a custom Ace of Spades and Jokers. All printed in Uganda and neatly encased in a gorgeous tuck with a custom seal.

My goal was to make playing cards suited for the eye for refined artistic taste. A timeless aesthetic where ancient culture meets luxury.
